Creating website using WordPress has never been easy. It is indeed the number one open source platform used by web developers and designers for web development projects.
Here are the steps on how to create a website using WordPress
1. Choose a Domain Name
First you need to know what is the name or also known as the domain name of your website. It must exactly or soundly the same with the name of your business or services you offer.
I suggest to list your ideal domain name a piece of paper.
2. Buy your Domain Name on any domain provider
Once you have decide the domain name of your website you need to buy the domain from domain hosting provider. There are so many domain provider world wide, some of them are Godaddy, Bluehost and NameCheap.
3. Buy a Web Hosting for your Domain
When your domain is ready, you need to purchase also web hosting for your domain. From the word it self, the web hosting host your website document files such as the html, php and other important files for you website. Hostgator, SiteGround, MochaHost and InMotion are some of the best companies that offer web hosting.
Web hosting provider offers big discounts if you subscribe of 3 years.
Other domain provider also serves web hosting for your convenience, so that you would only manage one provider for your domain.
4. Connect your domain to your web hosting
Once your web hosting is already active, the web hosting provider will send you an email indicating the steps on connecting your web hosting to your domain. They will send you the DNS or Domain Name Servers along with IP address and cpanel access.
You need these DNS to point your domain to your web hosting.
- Login to your domain provider
- Go to Manange domain
- Under manage domain click DNS
- Enter the DNS provides by your web hosting
- Click save.
It usually takes less than an hour to take effect.
5. Install WordPress through the cPanel
Assuming that you have already set the DNS and propagation has been completed.
Go to cPanel by entering your domainname.com/cpanel and input the correct username and password given by the hosting provider you have subscribed to. It usually sent to your email address associated with them.
Click the wordpress icon found at the bottom of the page. Scroll down to located the wordpress icon and click it.
Create your username, password and important details such as your email address, name and directory – leave it blank if you want to install the wordpress to main directory on your website.
6. Run your website / Login to dashboard
Once you have successfully install the wordpress, you will receive a message sent to your email.
Login to dashboard by clicking the link and enter the username and password you have entered on the installation process or copy and paste the username and password sent by the wordpress on your email address.
